(<i>Review at Rancagua</i>) Juan Manuel Blanes Oil on canvas Museo Histórico Nacional Buenos Aires, Argentina General San Martin with two Chiefs and his Escort of the Hunters on Horseback of the Andes review one of the Corps of the Army of the Andes This work by Juan Manuel Blanes (completed in 1872), was presented to the Republic of Argentina by the Government of Uruguay in 1878, on the occasion of the Centennial of the Birth of General José de San Martín, since the government of our country did not want to acquire it on the grounds that it did not represent &quot;a historical event that occurred in our territory&quot;. The truth is that it is that the scene took place days before one of the great moments of the History of the Father of the Nation, namely the Act of Rancagua of April 2, 1820. Under it, the Army of the Andes (Chiefs and officers of each of its Corps) recognized the authority of the Liberator over the troops, in spite of the fact the National Government that had appointed him no longer existed. Thanks to this decision, it was possible to carry out the Liberation Expedition to Peru in August of that same year, with San Martín as Chief of the same, with the strength of the Army of the Andes and the Chilean Army. ======================================================= El Grl San Martín con dos Jefes y su Escolta de los Cazadores a Caballo de los Andes revista a uno de los Cuerpos del Ejército de los Andes Esta obra de Juan Manuel Blanes (terminada en 1872), fue obsequiada a la República Argentina por parte del Gobierno del Uruguay en el año 1878, con motivo del Centenario del Nacimiento del Grl José de San Martín, ya que el gobierno de nuestro país no quiso adquirirla &quot;al no representar un hecho histórico ocurrido en nuestro territorio&quot;. Lo cierto es que ella se sitúa días antes de uno de los grandes momentos de la Historia del Padre de la Patria, como fue la firma del Acta de Rancagua del 2 de abril de 1820. Por ella el Ejército de los Andes (Jefes y oficiales de cada uno de sus Cuerpos) reconocían la autoridad del Libertador sobre las tropas, a pesar de no existir más el Gobierno Nacional que lo había nombrado en su empleo. Gracias a esta decisión fue posible la realización de la Expedición Libertador al Perú en Agosto de ese mismo año, con San Martín como Jefe de la misma, con la fuerza del Ejército de los Andes y el Ejército chileno.
