Budavári Sikló, the Budapest Castle Hill Funicular, a funicular railway linking Clark Ádám tér (Adam Clark Square) and the Széchenyi lánchíd (Széchenyi Chain Bridge) at river level to Budavári Palota (Buda Castle) above, was opened in 1870 and has been in municipal ownership since 1920. Destroyed during World War II, and after many delays, it was repaired and reopened in 1986. The double track rail stretched 0.095 km, with a maximum incline of 31.75°. Two pedestrian foot bridges that crossed the line were removed in 1900, but rebuilt to the original design in 1983.
