The change in elevation at this point in Spadina Road marks the bluffs of ancient Lake Iroquois. The cliff is too steep for a road, which is why Spadina curves at this point, but the steps cut downwards more directly. Everything below the bluffs was on the lake bed at the time of glaciation.
